Fidden Beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand looking across to the tidal island of Erraid with several wide, shallow, sandy bays. Facing west, it is the perfect place for soaking up a sunset. Fidden is a mile from Fionnphort and can be easily reached by car from the road. The beach has a shallow drop and is therefore safe for families, making Fidden Campsite very popular. The rocky outcrops of red granite are very attractive, but also perfect for young children to try out their climbing skills. Outdoor enthusiasts find it easy to go kayaking, snorkelling and wild swimming, with the chance that the local seal population, often seen hauled out on the rocks, might come to investigate. The Ross of Mull Bunkhouse is ideal accommodation for families and outdoor enthusiasts with lots of storage space on site for equipment, drying room, cycle shed and laundry facilities. The surrounding area is excellent habitat for wildlife such as mountain hare, hen harrier, geese and other birdlife. It is possible to walk over to Erraid at low tide and link up with the walk around Pottie.
